Chisinau administration focuses again on “Valea Morilor” park
The works to lay out the recreational area and park “Valea Morilor” in Chisinau could start in a year. At least three impediments hinder solving this acute problem, the deputy mayor of Chisinau Nistor Grozavu said on Monday, November 23, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to Grozavu, until the works begin the water that accumulates on the bottom of the lake must be removed in a different way as the transportation of the water through an underground pipe up to Ion Creanga St is rather costly. Also, specialists of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service need time to check the bottom of the lake as there were found munitions dating from the Second World War. Another impediment is the request of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova to postpone the works for a year so as to carry out archeological studies.
The deputy mayor said the City Hall will announce a contest to attract investments into this area and that a relevant draft decision will be submitted for examination at one of the next meetings of the Chisinau Municipal Council. Currently, the local authorities are considering whether to engage one or several investors in this project.
Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said the draft decision must be discussed with representatives of the Municipal Council beforehand so that it is examined and approved at one of the next meetings. He also said that a discussion over the future studies should be held with specialists of the Academy of Sciences.
