The municipal administration urges the Chisinau residents to remove the snow from the roofs of their apartment buildings and houses. Otherwise, they will pose a threat when the temperatures go up. The call was made by the head of the Public Amenities Division Petru Gontea on February 20. “The snow melts during the day and the water pours through drainage channels, but it freezes at night. If the snow remains on the roofs, it will make the apartment ceilings wet and the water will damage the walls. If the snow is cleaned, the roofs will dry up and we will avoid inundations,” said Petru Gontea. Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca called on the managers of the housing stock to mobilize the people so that they clean the roofs voluntarily. “We must take steps in order to avoid situations of accident,” he stated. Last week, there were spread 2 681 cubic meters of antiskid material. The total snow removing costs amounted to 3.788 million lei.
