Chirtoaca upset by Court of Accounts observation
Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca expressed his discontent with the fact that the efforts put in by the Municipality are not taken into consideration. The statement was made in reply to a Court of Accounts' observation that the Municipality failed to accumulate 250 million lei to the budget, reports Info-Prim Neo.
“Only those who don’t work don’t make mistakes. For the future, to avoid such situations, at the moment of official submission and approval of the Court of Accounts’ audit report, the resolutions will be traced to each division, and those responsible will have to explain themselves; in order to see the extent to which there was position abuse and other violations that are punishable according to the Labor Code. This is a natural procedure”, stated Chirtoaca.
“Unfortunately, no one noticed that Chisinau, in the last four years, in spite of all hardships, increased its income by approximately 1 billion lei. Thus, in this year, the municipal budget is close to 2.4 billion lei, compared to 1.5 billion lei in 2008; although money from our budget was taken out regularly. This year has a 500 million lei increase, that is from 1.9 billion in 2011 we have reached 2.4 billion in 2012”, said the Mayor.
Dorin Chirtoaca said that there are 5 new projects on Chisinau Municipal Council’s agenda which may bring a 200 million lei income. “Maybe this is the money that the Court of Accounts referred to; they just stood still for more than half a year, because no consensus was reached, in order for them to be promoted”, said Chirtoaca.
Employees from the Court of Accounts have concluded, in their audit report, the Chisinau municipality’s budget for years 2010-2011 has lost 250 million lei due to inefficient management.
