Those who realized that they were wrong are welcome back, while those who hatched the plot have no chance to return, the first deputy chairman of the Liberal Party (PL) Dorin Chirtoaca said, commenting on the situation in the party, IPN reports.

Dorin Chirtoaca told the journalists on April 22 that Mihai Ghimpu urged him to apply for the post of chairman of the Liberal Party even in 2010, but he refused because he wanted to continue serving as a mayor. “Those who want the party to be reformed and use the name of Chirtoaca, only stab a knife in the back of the party and, respectively, of the chairman. They do it in an impertinent way in order to hide their own illegalities,” said Dorin Chirtoaca.

He also said that there are no reasons to change the party’s chairman and that Mihai Ghimpu must continue to fulfill his duties, at least until the congress of 2014. “The fact that he not always expresses himself in the best way should not be prevailing. By content, he promotes correct things. The content is more important than the form of expression,” stated Dorin Chirtoaca.

On April 12, a group of seven Liberal lawmakers and a number of heads of the PL’s local organizations announced the creation of the Council for Reforming the Liberal Party, asking replacing Mihai Ghimpu with Dorin Chirtoaca as party leader. The second day, five lawmakers of the seven were excluded from the party at the PL’s National Council.
