Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca invited the Communist municipal councilors to negotiations, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Several weeks ago, they pledged to respect the verbal agreement we reached, saying they will come to the meetings of the Council and will cooperate with the other factions. Later, I found out from the press that they accused me of interference in the Council’s activity. Under the legislation, I, as mayor general, must open the Council’s meetings until a chairperson is elected,” said Dorin Chirtoaca. He considers that by their acts, the Communists show that they want early elections in the municipality of Chisinau. “If they refuse to cooperate and accept our proposals and prefer to make groundless accusations, I’m inclined to believe that they want to block the Council’s work and to cause early elections,” said the mayor. Dorin Chirtoaca stated that the councilors of the other factions do not want early elections. “It is time to work, not make statements. The agenda is full and we must set to work. If they want early elections, they should assume responsibility. The current situation was created artificially,” he said. The negotiations with the Communist faction are set to take place behind closed doors on November 2.
