The candidates for mayor general of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, of the Liberal Party, and Igor Dodon, of the Communist Party, invite each other to public debates to discuss the problems faced by the capital city, but on different days and at different hours. As a meeting place, Chirtoaca chose a facility that puts himself in a favorable light, while Dodon invites his opponent to a street that symbolizes the failures of the current mayor of Chisinau. Both of the candidates are considered to be having great chances of winning the June 5 local elections, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Given your intention to discuss the real problems confronting the residents of Chisinau municipality, announced in a communique on the website www.dodon.md, we invite you to public debates where to present solutions to the given problems. As this invitation is in the interests of the community, we are convinced that you will accept it, given that you said you already have solutions. We suggest presenting first of all solutions for modernizing the water supply service in the municipality of Chisinau and, respectively, for treating the wastewater. We expect you at the wastewater treatment station situated at 24 Lunca Bykului St on May 12, at 12 noon,” it is said in the communique issued by Dorin Chirtoaca. In response, Igor Dodon invites Dorin Chirtoaca, “as the author of the chaos in Chisinau, to the tribunal of the Chisinau inhabitants.” “The formula “invitation to a duel” shows that Chirtoaca is an aggressive man and a brawler who fuels his power from shows and conflicts. Secondly, his tactic of conveying political messages and making a victim of himself is confirmed as in this “duel” Chirtoaca will use again the anti-Communist demagogy and will definitely become the victim of the “duel”.Thirdly, though with delay, he accepted my proposal to discuss the problems experienced by the residents of Chisinau. Chirtoaca's wish to become a victim again probably beat his fear of taking part in a public debate. Fourthly, he should not tell me when and where to go. He must answer before me and thousands of people. Thus, I invite him to Alba-Iulia St on May 13, at 1pm,” Igor Dodon says in his communique.
