Chiril Moţpan requested PG to provide telephone interceptions results

Former Committee for national security, defense and public order chairman, MP Chiril Moţpan, requested the General Prosecutor's Office to provide the results of the telephone call interceptions of some public figures, journalists and opinion leaders, after the case materials were sent to the institution. In a Facebook post, the MP wrote that the request was made in order to bring transparency into Moldovan politics.

Chiril Moţpan wrote that he also sent a request to Dumitru Robu, former interim prosecutor general. The MP requested to be informed whether he has been subjected to the special investigative measure regulated by the Law on special investigative activity, which also implies telephone call interception.

Additionally, Chiril Moţpan requested to be provided the protocols related to the special investigation measure, as well as the prosecutor's order regarding the legality of the measure. "I respectfully ask for the examination of the request in priority regime and to be provided with a response within the shortest possible time", wrote Chiril Moţpan.

Chiril Moţpan recently presented a list of supporters of the Platform Dignity and Truth, activists and journalists, whose calls were intercepted. According to the deputy, some of the leaders of the protests organized by the DA Platform were also intercepted, while the aim of the interception was to gather compromising information.

Alexandru Jizdan, PDM MP, was appointed chairman of the Committee for national security, defense and public order on Friday, November 29, by Parliament. The Democrat replaced the ACUM MP, Platform DA, Chiril Moțpan.
