Chiril Moţpan: If Dodon is involved in expelling the Turkish teachers, I will ask for his resignation

Chiril Moţpan, PPDA deputy, the chairman of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense and public order, claims that if president Igor Dodon is involved in any way in the case related to the expelling of the Turkish citizens, which took place last year, he will demand the resignation of the head of state. The MP says that he addressed to the Information and Security Service a request concerning Igor Dodon on the issue of expulsion of Turkish citizens and is waiting for a reply, IPN reports.

"In an address that I have already submitted and to which I expect the answer, I asked several questions, including what was the involvement in that process of the Speaker of Parliament, who according to the law is responsible for preventing and combating terrorism. In 2017, the Parliament passed a law appointing the Speaker of Parliament responsible for preventing and combating terrorism, when Mr. Candu was in office. Mr. Candu definitely was aware of the situation. Mr. Filip, who was prime minister, likewise. Mr. Dodon also had to be informed," said the MP on " Black Box " program on TV8.

According to Chiril Moţpan, if Igor Dodon is involved in this case, whether he is the country’s president or not, he will demand his resignation. "From a discussion I had with a prosecutor, it seems that Mr. Plahotniuc was the most interested in this," the politician stated.

As for the information he made public on Tuesday, November 19, regarding the State Tax Service (SFS) and its former head Serghei Pușcuța, Chiril Moţpan says that discussions on this subject took place before the investiture of the current Government. The deputy claims that, based on this information, he does not rule out that Sergiu Pușcuță, who is now the Minister of Finance, knew about and participated in certain schemes.

Chiril Moţpan maintains that the head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, Viorel Morari, has confirmed to him that the documents he has sent to the institution have reached their destination. "The prosecutors will certainly investigate this. (...) In these documents there are a lot of companies, names, evidence to where the money was transferred," mentioned the parliamentarian.

According to him, the materials are "privileged information" and now it is up to the state institutions to take the necessary actions and to shed light upon this case, but also on many others. Chiril Moţpan says that the information was obtained from state institutions.

Yesterday, the Chairman of the National Security, Defense and Public Order Commission of the Parliament, Chiril Moţpan, pointed out that during Sergei Pushcuţa's tenure at the State Tax Service (SFS) “illegal refunding of value added tax and money laundering schemes started to operate, including by artificially increasing the value of export goods or fabrication of VAT amounts based on fictitious exports”.
