Outgoing Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici refused to hold the post of Premier on an interim basis, until a new Government is invested. On his page on a social networking site, he wrote that he informed the head of state about his decision, IPN reports.
“After interpreting the constitutional norms, I informed the President of Moldova that I refuse to serve as acting Premier for the same reasons than those I stated when I announced my resignation. I submitted a relevant letter to the head of state. At the same time, I do not want groups of interests to speculate on my recent decisions and statements in a move to improve their image and political standing,” Chiril Gaburici wrote in his message.
He added he wants the leaders of the coalition to regard his resignation as the moment when they should start to form a stable parliamentary majority and a new Government that will follow the European path of reforms for Moldova’s benefit.
Chiril Gaburici announced his resignation on June 12, saying he does not want to be suspected of influencing the investigation into the authenticity of his diploma.
