Prime Minister Chrili Gaburici said the letter by which he asked dismissing the administration of a number of state institutions was written on his own initiative and wasn’t coordinated with party leaders. He made such a statement in the program “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.
“I had to do something. Things go too slowly as regards the elucidation of the frauds committed in the banking system. I consulted no one. I wrote as I felt. Now everyone is preoccupied with the elections. I remained practically alone. They discuss more my diploma and my socks, not useful things. Vlad Filat found out about the letter after its publication. He got angry a little bit. He does not agree with this condition, but we will yet have discussions after the elections. Many of our opinions do not coincide. It’s normal. I have a different stance on the liquidation of the three banks involved in the theft of billions of lei. Filat is against liquidation,” stated Gaburici.
He made it clear that his ultimatum is related to the visit that is to be paid by an IMF delegation to Chisinau next week. “A new financing agreement with the IMF will be discussed next week. We must fulfill the conditions put forward earlier by the IMF and convince them to sign this accord. One of the conditions is to liquidate the three banks. Keeping Banca de Economii is no longer profitable for the Government. If we do not sign this agreement with the IFM, the country will be in default. We will have to review the personnel of all the budget-funded institutions,” said the Premier.
He denied that the letter-ultimatum means his decision to honorably leave the post owing to the criminal case over use of a forged diploma started against him. “If I had intended to leave, I wouldn’t have written angry letters. On Wednesday I will be questioned by prosecutors and I will state my position. Until then I will make no comment,” stated Gaburici.
