Chinese artists perform within “Martsishor” festival

Five Chinese instrumentalists of the Classical Impressions Ensemble performed arrangements of ancient Chinese music at two concerts, in Chisinau and in Soroca, on the occasion of the festival “Martsishor- 2015”, IPN reports.

The Classical Impressions Ensemble is a chamber troupe whose members play traditional Chinese instruments. The artistic group was founded in 2012 by Fan Weiqing, who plays the guzheng (old musical instrument with strings, similar to the zither). The ensemble is part of the China National Symphony Orchestra and is popular both in China and abroad.

China’s Ambassador in Chisinau Tong Mingtao said that since diplomatic relations were established with Moldova, the bilateral relations have developed constantly. “The cultural exchanges play an important role and became the ring that shortens the distance between the two peoples,” said the diplomat.

The second secretary of the Embassy of China Yu Zhengrong said the artists were impressed by the quality of the sound at the Organ Hall and confessed that they played for the first time in a hall with such good acoustics. They were also impressed by the public and expressed readiness to anytime return to Moldova.

Yu Zhengrong also said that the artists wanted very much to play Moldovan traditional songs with the help of Chinese instruments, but had not much time for rehearsals because they are to perform in Canada, Spain, and the Czech Republic. They will yet do it the next time they come to Chisinau.

The festival “Martsishor” is traditionally held during the first ten days of March.
