China will grant 15 mln Yuan in aid to Moldova

The Government of China will offer 15 mln Yuan in non-reimbursable aid to the Government of Moldova. At the current exchange rate, this sum is equal to 2 mln USD. The Cabinet made a decision regarding the signing of a relevant agreement with the Government of China on Wednesday, October 31. The aid is designed to mitigate the impact of the drought and to finance projects that will be approved bilaterally by a separate accord. An institution authorized by the Government of Moldova and China Development Bank will deal with the financial formalities for implementing the agreement. Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev said that in the future the officials in charge should submit proposals over the purchase of diesel oil from the financial resources that will be transferred to the Government’s special accounts. The diesel oil will be distributed to the farmers that must prepare the land for spring sowing. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry in concert with the local public administrations will assess how much mineral fertilizers are needed for spring sowing and will make sure that the necessary volumes are purchased during winter directly from the producers. They will also fix the necessary amount of seeds that must be sowed in spring.
