The Government of China will donate a large batch of COVID-19 vaccines to Moldova. Such an announcement was made by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China Zhang Yinghong in Chisinau in a meeting with Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi. The Chinese diplomat hasn’t yet specified how many doses of vaccine will be provided and when these will be shipped to Moldova, IPN reports.
According to the Government’s press service, the two officials discussed current epidemiological situation in Moldova and in the world.
Zhang Yinghong spoke about the experience of his country during the COVID-19 pandemic and about the measures taken to fight and limit the spread of SARS-CoV-2. He noted that the intensification of the vaccination of people plays an important role in preventing the infection.
For his part, Aureliu Ciocoi approved of the Moldovan-Chinese cooperation in all the areas of common interest, expressing his gratitude for the assistance and major support offered permanently by the people of China to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, especially the past year.
The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection on March 25 reported 2,132 new cases of COVID-19 and 41 deaths due to complications caused by SARS-CoV-2. Of the 4,377 infected persons who are now in the national hospitals, 349 are in an extremely serious state and 65 of them were put on a ventilator.
