“The virus is our common enemy. China will stick to the concept of building a human community with a common destiny, will strengthen cooperation with the Moldovan side in public health and will continue to support Moldova in the fight against the pandemic,” Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Moldova Zhang Yinghong stated in the ceremony to donate Chinese vaccines held at the Chisinau International Airport on April 27, IPN reports.
According to Zhang Yinghong, China and Moldova are traditional reliable partners and after the pandemic started, the countries have helped each other and overcame the difficulties together. When Moldova made a request for vaccines, the Chinese authorities did their best to ensure the fast delivery of the doses. “I think the arrival of this vaccine will play an active role in supporting the national vaccination campaign of Moldova and in the fight against the pandemic,” said the diplomat.
He noted the vaccine is a powerful weapon of mankind against the virus. “The President of China Xi Jinping promised to the world that the Chinese vaccine will become a global public product after it becomes operational. Currently, there is a huge discrepancy in the global supply of vaccines and it is very hard for the developing countries to obtain them. China does its utmost to offer them safer and more efficient vaccines,” stated Zhang Yinghong.
As many as 150,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccines donated by the People’s Republic of China and 100,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine purchased by the Republic of Moldova were delivered to Chisinau in the morning of April 27. Since the pandemic started, China offered seven lots of humanitarian aid in a consistent way, including testing kits, face masks, protective suits, a high-performance multipurpose ultrasound imaging system and other medical equipment.
