China to provide $1.2m technical assistance to Moldova

China will provide to Moldova a non-reimbursable technical assistance worth 10 million Yuan (about 1.2. million dollars). This action was stipulated in the Agreement on economic and technical cooperation between the Government of Moldova and the People’s Republic of China, signed on Wednesday evening, by Minister of Commerce Igor Dodon and China’s Ambassador to Moldova Gong Jianwei. Under this agreement, 7 million Yuan (about 840 thousand dollars) of the total amount will be used for the procurement of 1,500 computers for the republic’s schools. The schools will be selected by the Ministry of Education and Youth. The reminder, 3 million Yuan (360 thousand dollars), will be offered to the Scientific-Practical National Centre for Reproductive Health, Medical Genetics and Family Planning in order to purchase medical equipment. In the period from 2001 to 2006, China offered Moldova non-reimbursable aid as technical assistance totalling 25 million Yuan. This allowed the Experimental Republican Centre of Prosthesis, Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation to buy medical equipment worth 7.3 million Yuan, as well as establish the Chinese traditional medicine centre in Moldova with 2.7 million Yuan, etc.
