China to finance equipment of 52 Moldovan kindergartens with solar panels

More than 50 kindergartens in Moldova will use solar energy to produce hot water. It will become possible within a Moldovan-Chinese energy efficiency project.

The project is being negotiated. The last variant of the project was sent to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China. “We are waiting for an answer about specific aspects,” the representative of the State Chancellery Vasilii Ciorba has told IPN.

The project was designed by UNDP Moldova and envisions the provision of non-reimbursable financial assistance by China for implementing small projects to set up solar panels in the kindergartens of Moldova. The panels will use light and heat energy from the sun to produce hot water in kindergartens with biomass boilers.

The cost of the project is US$1.4 million. Initially, it was designed for 30 kindergartens, but the number of beneficiaries then rose to 52.

The Government of China constantly offers financial assistance to Moldova. A road traffic monitoring center with equipment for 41 large intersections was opened in Chisinau at the beginning of this month. The project was financed by the Government of China. On October 29, the Government of Moldova announced that a Chinese donation consisting of 1,200 computers, printers, Xerox machines and other equipment will be transmitted to schools and dormitories for outfitting informatics halls.
