China offers humanitarian aid worth over 5.7m lei for Ukrainian refugees in Moldova

China donated a batch of humanitarian aid to the value of 5.7 million lei for the Ukrainian refugees staying in the Republic of Moldova. The donation was handed over at a storehouse in Vatra commune of the municipality of Chisinau. This consists of bedclothes, hygiene products, trowels and washing powder, IPN reports.

Minister of Labor and Social Protection Marcel Spatari expressed his gratitude for the aid. “We will make sure that this aid reaches the refugees and the families that house refugees so as to help them overcome the crisis. This batch is valuable, but it also has a symbolic meaning and shows again that our nations have friendly relations,” said the minister.

China’s Ambassador to Moldova Yan Wenbin noted the Republic of Moldova hosts a large number of Ukrainian refugees. “The Moldovan people are generous and humane. The continuous arrival of refugees is a serious economic and social problem. That’s why China decided to offer humanitarian assistance to Moldova,” said the diplomat.

The goods taken to the storehouse in Vatra represent only a part of the humanitarian aid offered by China to the Ukrainians who found refuge in Moldova. “We will continue cooperating with the Moldovan side so as to offer assistance to the refugees,” stated Yan Wenbin.

In Moldova, there are 103 accredited temporary placement centers intended for Ukrainian refugees. Over 350,000 refugees crossed Moldova’s borders so far and more than 98,000 of them remained in Moldova. Half of these are children. The humanitarian aid is distributed to placement centers and communities that house refugees.
