China interested in Moldovan wines
China approves of the quality of the Moldovan wines and is interested in promoting the imports of wine products from Moldova, Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao said in a meeting with Moldovan Premier Vlad Filat on September 13. He also said that China will provide US$3 million in flood cleanup assistance to Moldova, but the money will be disbursed in 2011, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Government's press service.
Wen Jiabao stated that China is interested in Moldova's agriculture, telecommunications and infrastructure and would like to strengthen cooperation in these fields. He said the work of the joint Moldovan-Chinese commission should be optimized so that it plays an important role in attracting investments to both of the countries.
Vlad Filat said Moldova can become a platform for promoting Chinese investments as its geographic position enables access both to the European Union and the Commonwealth of Independent States. “It is a market that totals over 700 million consumers,” he said.
He also said that China's experience and potential can be efficiently used in such areas as road infrastructure, energy sector, telecommunications, railways. “We established cooperation relations with the companies Huawei and ZTE and will soon launch an important project together with Sinohydro,” Vlad Filat stated, adding he will personally administer the Moldovan-Chinese relations and the joint projects that will be rolled out.
Vlad Filat, accompanied by a Moldovan governmental delegation, is on a four-day visit to China. The Premier took part in the 2010 Shanghai World Expo and in the opening of Moldova's Days in Shanghai.
