China gives 15 million lei to National Army
The National Army will receive a grant of over 15 million from the People’s Republic of China’s Ministry of Defense. An agreement to this effect was signed on Thursday in Beijing by Moldovan Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta, and Chinese Minister Liang Guanglie, the Ministry of Defense said in a press release.
According to the Chinese Minister, the grant offered to the National Army is yet another confirmation of the productive friendship and collaboration relations between China and Moldova in different fields, among which is the military one as well. “China promotes a military cooperation policy based on peace principles with all the states in the region and throughout the world, including Moldova. Until now we gave Moldova 3 grants, totaling at about 15 million (about 30 million lei), which have been efficiently put to use. We are certain that this aid will be used rationally in the process of modernizing and reforming Moldova”, mentioned the official.
Vitalie Marinuta specified that all precedent aids were used for the modernization and reformation of several branches within Moldova’s military structure. “Due to the support from our partners from the Chinese Army, we managed to modernize the communication, informational, medical, and other systems. This grant will also be used for the implementation of some National Army development projects, initiated by us recently”, noted the Minister.
The grants previously offered to the Ministry of Defense by the Chinese Army were comprised of transport, logistic and medical units, calculators and communications tech, video conference equipment, water purifiers, medical equipment, and others. The Moldovan-Chinese military collaboration is developing in accordance with the Agreement signed on 23 June 2002, between Moldova’s and PRC’s Ministries of Defense.
