Children’s rights in images

Photographs on the topic of children’s rights will be exhibited in the Park of the Chisinau Cathedral until June 1, when it is celebrated the International Children’s Day. The exhibition titled “I and My Rights” was opened on December 10, on the International Human Rights Day, organised by the Catholic charity mission Caritas Moldova in cooperation with the Public Association “Inteco”. According to the program coordinator for Caritas Moldova Marcela Sarbea, the photographs were made by educators, teachers, social assistants and coordinators of the Mission’s projects. The pictures feature beneficiaries of the Caritas programmes. These are children that attend the day centres in Rabnita, Balti, Sangerei, Bender, and Tiraspol as well as children from the temporary accommodation centre located in Petrusca village, Tiraspol region, and kids from three nursery schools opened by Caritas Moldova in settlements where the are no state-funded kindergartens. Caritas Moldova is a member of Caritas Internationalis – an international confederation that includes 162 Catholic relief, development and social service organisations. Caritas Moldova started its activity by distributing humanitarian aid. Since 1999, it has implemented long-term projects among which migration prevention programmes, student scholarship programmes, projects to hospitalise patients in need, to open day centres for children with special educational needs and others. The exhibition “I and My Rights” is the third of the kind, but this is the first time that it has been organised with the support of Caritas Moldova.
