The ombudswoman for children’s right proposes reorganizing the Bender boarding school for children who remained without parental care into an education institution and creating, based on this and on the Theoretical Lyceum “Alexandru cel Bun” based in the same town, of a multifunctional educational complex. Maia Bănărescu made such approaches to the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration and the Parliament’s commission on human rights and interethnic relations and the commission on culture, education, research, youth, sport and the media, IPN reports.
The ombudswoman said that 47 education institutions work currently in the municipality of Bender, which is under the control of the Transnistrian administration. But the activity of 46 institutions of these does not correspond to the educational ideal of the school in the Republic of Moldova and the fundamental principles of education.
Only the Theoretical Lyceum “Alexandru cel Bun” of Bender ensures the education process is in compliance with the Education Code of the Republic of Moldova. The boarding school for children who remained without parental care, which has been nonfunctional since 2020, but has sufficient areas that can be used for educational and recreational purposes, is situated inside the court of this lyceum
In the municipality of Bender, there is no early education institution that would work in accordance with the aforementioned national standards. In this town, the state Republic of Moldova does not ensure the observance of successions and cycles in the education system and the quality standards in pre-university education institutions.
According to the ombudswoman, the proposed reorganization will ensure the succession of levels and cycles in the education system in accordance with the Education Code of the Republic of Moldova and the observance of children’s rights to education and recreation, will offer the children the possibility of practicing recreational activities according to age and of taking part in the cultural and artistic life.
