Children’s home in Cupcini to be closed
The children’s home in Cupcini village will be closed. The Government made such a decision following a constant decrease in the number of children placed in this institution, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The residential institutions have been assessed as part of the Development of Integrated Social Services for Vulnerable Families and Children at Risk Project implemented with support from the UNICEF and the EU. It was established that the children’s home in Cupcini is inefficient.
The number of children in the institution continues to decline, but the maintenance costs are high.
Minister of Education Leonid Bujor said 19 children from the Cupcini children’s home have been reintegrated into the biological families, 9 – into extended families, while two have been placed in a family-type children’s home. Thus, all the 30 children continue to benefit from alternative care and education services.
