Abigaelle, Aili, Aleynanur, Annelise or Addison, Alexandre Albert Gab, Alexys Profiry, Asil – are just some of the first names that only one child bears in the Republic of Moldova. The Public Services Agency (PSA) notes that the cultural diversity in the country and also historical influences generated a wide spectrum of first names, both female and male, some of them being truly unusual and unique, IPN reports.
Since the beginning of this year, the civil status bodies of the PSA have registered 11,536 newborn children, of whom 5,957 are boys, and the rest are girls.
Among the unique girl names are Abigaelle, Aili, Aleynanur, Annelise, Anwar, Astrid, Avrelia, Bedia, Deborah, Eelin and Ester, Evie, Gulea, Isa, Ilva-Astrid, Iunna, Joy, Kaya, Leah, Luna-Sofia, Maide, MelisaIsil, Mika, Miraj, Renesmee, Sadin, Seya, Talia, Viktoria Melek, Yagmur Irmak.
Among the unique boy names are Addison, Alexandre Albert Gab, Alexys Profiry, Asil, Asman, Aydan, Bruno, Crinu, Dastan, Daniali, Dyego, Emircan, Erminingheld, Guray Sarp, Harry and Isai. Exclusive names are also John Mortimer, Jonathan-Ryan, Jusuf, Leo Guan Hooe, Liam Quin, Loughnane, Mark-Antoni, Manvel, Maximus-Iurie, Mir, Mykhal, Nolan, Noe, Radzimierz, Samat, Tahir, Tiberius, Tancredi, Vil, and Yonatan.
“These first names are not only rare, but also most of the times carry a special history and a deep meaning. By choosing them, the parents want to offer their children a unique and memorable identity, emphasizing tradition, culture and originality,” noted the PSA.
