Children who suffered food poisoning last week ate candies brought by parent

The 11 children of the Chisinau kindergarten No. 49, who were taken to the hospital with food poisoning last week, ate candies brought by a parent to celebrate the birthday of one of the kids, IPN reports.

In the June 10 meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials, Lilian Carp, head of the mayor’s staff, said the candies had the shelf life expired. Under the regulations for kindergartens, giving food brought from outside the institution to children is banned. An investigation will be launched into this case and those to blame will be punished.

The children were taken to the hospital on June 7. After examined by doctors, four of them were hospitalized. The others received treatment at home.
