The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection presented the conclusions of the investigation into the case of poisoning of about 30 children at a camp in Taraclia town. Given that the poisoning symptoms appeared suddenly and developed in a short period, the infection was most probably transmitted by food, IPN reports.
The summer camp was opened without a sanitary authorization and the personnel was employed without undergoing medical examinations. The camp was supplied with water from an unsafe source and the cooking staff had insufficient hygienic training. The technological processes when preliminary processing the food products and preparing food weren’t respected. According to the Ministry, these factors contributed to the case of food poisoning.
The evidence collected by the investigation commission will be remitted to the competent bodies.
A week ago, about 30 children aged between 7 and 14 were admitted to the Taraclia District Hospital with food poisoning symptoms. The camp was closed for disinfection and for determining the circumstances of this case.
