The registration of children at schools in the municipality of Chisinau starts on April 1. The parents can do this online at www.escoala.chisinau.md. Viorica Negrei, deputy head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport, has told IPN that the procedure remained the same and only the method of submitting documents was modified.

The platform contains all the education institutions that have the first grade. The parents will no longer have to go to school to submit the required documents. They could do it online by attaching the scanned documents.

The school district of the applicant will be taken into account as a priority. Enrolment at an education institution outside the district will be possible as part of the second stage, in August, depending on the places that will remain unfilled. The first stage ends in June, when the results will be totaled.

Viorica Negrei said the new platform will ensure greater transparency in the process of registering children at school.

In a posting on a social networking site, acting mayor of Chisinau Ruslan Codreanu said the registration of children in the first grade is free and any asked payment is illegal.
