Children of primary school familiarized with paschal traditions

A number of children of the primary school-nursery No. 199 of Chisinau took part in the paschal celebration “Jests is Risen” that was staged at the institution on May 5. The children sang and recited poems dedicated to Easter. According to the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport, the goal of the event was to promote Romanian paschal traditions and to stimulate interest in studying them, IPN reports.

The school’s director Eugenia Bogashevschi said the children were involved in this activity with the aim of making them realize the fact that traditions must be kept as they were inherited and must be passed on. “We staged this event in order to educate the children morally and spiritually and to promote the traditions and customs that we inherited from our parents,” she stated.

According to the director, through the agency of such celebrations, the children can learn more about religious feasts. The Easter celebration has been staged at the school for about 20 years. “The children laid flowers at the icon of the Mother of God with Jesus Christ and sang paschal songs. There were held discussions on Easter,” said Eugenia Bogashevschi.

By this event, the organizers aimed to familiarize the children with such terms as angel, icon, church, cross, Easter, God, paschal basket, decorated eggs, etc.
