About 20 children from 12 districts of the country formed a choir and will sing eight songs that they learned during July 15-20. The choir, which represents the ethnic and social diversity of the Republic of Moldova, will give a concert at the Organ Hall in Chisinau, alongside the Moldovan National Youth Orchestra that consists of musicians from Moldova, Romania, Ukraine, Russia, and Germany, on July 21, starting at 7pm, IPN reports.
The program includes works by Biber, Pärt, Haydn, Mozart, Mosiiciuc, Spataru, Lazarencu, Turcan, Ungur, Vilka, Lennon, and Jackson. Conductor Cristian Spataru will direct the orchestra. The concert forms part of the musical inclusion project “La La Play Voices”. A documentary film will be made as part of the same project.
The organizers of the project – the Musical-Choral Association in partnership with UNICEF, the Ministry of Education, Culture and East Europe Foundation - said the participation in the cultural and artistic life in conditions of parity is a right of each child.
“The children with special needs enjoy the same right to make their voice heard, while the children who belong to an ethnic minority cannot be deprived of the right to take part in the own cultural life. The project “La La Play Voices” is the first musical inclusion project,” it is said in a press release of the organizers.
Entrance to the concert is free of charge.
