About 700 children of preschool age from the municipality of Chisinau on May 18 watched the play “Tronca-Ponca, Vaj” that promotes road traffic education. They also could learn the traffic rules alongside patrolling inspectors and enjoy the company of tale characters. The activities were staged within the charity event “A tale as a present”, organized by the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport, IPN reports.
Thus, the families of 350 children from municipal kindergartens purchased by two tickets to the play - one for their children and another one for children in difficulty. The organizers said that this way they aimed to cultivate altruism and philanthropy.
The Division’s head Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb said that by this event they want to sensitize the children to the problems faced by mates who cannot go to a play because of the financial condition of their families.
Before the play, the children took part in a number of activities within a road traffic safety town that was improvised in the square of the Railway Workers’ Palace in Chisinau. There, employees of the National Patrolling Inspectorate informed the children about the work of the police and about traffic security. Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb said that this way the local authorities aimed to prepare the children for summer. According to her, the children must know from early childhood the traffic rules – how to cross the street, how to ride a bike, etc.
The children took part in a number of practical exercises staged by the police. They rode a bike and crossed the street at improvised crosswalks, following the colors of the stoplights. Lieutenant Major Pavel Apostol said the children of preschool age are the most vulnerable and most exposed to the risk of becoming victims of road accidents. That’s why it is important for them to know the traffic rules.
The charity event “A tale as a present” is organized by the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport in partnership with the Foundation “Inima Mare” (“Big Heart”) and the National Patrolling Inspectorate. This was the second event of the kind.
