Children from Romania and Moldova are expected at Youth Sports Festival in Iasi

Hundreds of children from Romania and Moldova are expected at the third edition of the International Youth Sports Festival, Agerpres reported. The event will take place in the Romanian border city of Iasi between August 29 and October 19.

Organizer Cezar Honceru told a press conference that the events of the festival will take place on the sports fields of several schools. Children from Iasi and other counties of the country, as well as from the Republic of Moldova, will take part in the sports competitions.

The festival will be an event that focuses on creating a sporting, competitive and educational environment that promotes outdoor movement, interaction, respect and tolerance.

Beatrice Abălaşei, dean of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports at the Iasi University, stated that physical education and sports are an important element of a people’s culture. “Today we are starting with the young ones, so that in the next editions we will reach all age segments up to seniors”, declared Beatrice Abălaşei.

The festival is funded by the Iaşi City Hall. Entries for sports competitions can be made until August 26. It is possible to participate in teams and individually, and impromptu teams can also be formed.
