Children from socially deprived families will benefit from lump-sum payments before the start of the school year. A sum of 10 million lei was allocated from the national social support fund for the purpose. The money will be distributed through local social support funds that will decide the beneficiaries and the size of the lump sums in accordance with the decisions taken by the administration boards, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Health, Social Protection and Family, the beneficiaries among children of a school age from socially disadvantaged families will be chosen in concert with the local education institutions. The public commissions for assessing the financial assistance needs that work under mayor’s offices will also be involved.
In the municipality of Chisinau, 8,000 children will get by 700 lei each from the municipal social support fund. The recipients of assistance from Chisinau will collect the money at the branches of Moldindconbank, while those from other areas at post offices.
Lump-sum payments for school needs in 2016 were provided to almost 30,000 children from socially deprived families. These totaled 15.6 million lei.
