Nine in ten samples of meat taken from the kindergarten “Foisor” in Ciocana district turned out to be horse meat not beef, as it was indicated in the invoice, officers of the Anticorruption Center announced on September 17, Info-Prim Neo reports. The officers started to inspect the kindergarten on September 9 after they were informed that the children there are fed with horse meat instead of beef. In the yard, they found a truck with two sacks of meat and other food products. The truck did not have a refrigerator and the meat was kept in unsanitary conditions. The meat was conveyed in plastic bags together with other food products. It was established that the truck distributed 210 kg of meat to eight kindergartens working in the same district, including “Forisor”. The results of the laboratory tests were transmitted to the General Prosecution Division so that it could open a legal case over swindle. Since 2007, the meat supplier Gref Comerrt has won all the tender contests for the provision of food products to all the Chisinau kindergarten and medical institutions financed with money from the municipal budget. If the company is found guilty, it will be included in the black list and will be deprived of the right to take part in public procurement.
