University professor Victor Cojocaru, doctor habilitate of medical sciences, of the National Clinical Hospital “Timofei Moșneaga”, said immunization, including of children, can be done if ultra-objective scientific studies prove its benefit to society, to children.
In an online round of questions and answers organized by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, the moderator of the event Eva Gudumac asked him about the utility of supervising the state of children even when these do not have signs of disease. “We must believe in such studies as they are based on multiple scientific examinations. It was proven that this is beneficial. The medical card with data about the children’s state of heath is a big plus to society. It’s good to know what diseases our children suffered from, what is their physical, mental condition as many things can be changed and tier state can be improved. They are our future,” stated the professor.
Commenting on the necessity of extending the prophylactic measures, Victor Corjocaru said the capacities of intensive care units should be strengthened so as to reduce the number of lethal cases. “On the one hand, we should take prophylactic action. On the other, we should noticeably reduce morality,” noted the doctor.
The event was staged in response to a request made by the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission to the academic community. Victor Cojocaru heads the Anesthesiology and Reanimatology Department No. 2 of “Nicolae Testemițanu” State University of Pharmacy and the Anesthesia and Intensive Care Clinic of the National Clinical Hospital “Timofei Moșneaga” where the patients with the most serious forms of COVID-19 are treated. The dialogue was moderated by academician Eva Gudumac, doctor habilitate of medical sciences and university professor.
