Starting with April 1, the parents can file applications to have their children enrolled in the first grade in the 2017-2018 school year. According to the Ministry of Education, all the children who turned seven before the start of the school year are mandatorily enrolled in the first grade, on a contest-free basis. The younger children can be admitted if the education institution has available places, IPN reports.
The file is submitted to the education institution and must contain the parent’s application, copies of the child’s birth certificate and the parent’s identity card, medical certificate of the child, two photos of the child and the report on the child’s development when finishing the preparatory group stage or the decision on school maturity taken by the expert district or municipal commission.
Enrolment in arts and sports classes in the first grade will be based on a relevant aptitude test. The education institutions without a particular profile can also introduce tests, but only for candidates from other districts. The tests will be taken between May 25 and June 2.
During June 20 – 21, the enrolment of children will be confirmed. An additional admission stage will be organized for children who will not be enrolled at the first stage, during August 1-24. The final list of children enrolled in the first grade will be validated and posted on August 25.
