The children born to foreign citizens in Moldova will be granted Moldovan nationality only if the parents give their consent, not automatically as until now. Relevant amendments to the Nationality Law were approved by the Government on May 3, Info-Prim Neo reports. There were also specified the conditions of stay in Moldova for persons married to Moldovans. Other decisions approved by the executive, which are aimed at fulfilling the Moldova-EU Plan of Action on the Liberalization of the Visa Regime, contain amendments to the Law on the State Dactiloscopic Registration, the Law on the Entering and Leaving of Moldova, the Law on the National Identification Papers, and the Law on the Regime of Stay for Foreigners. Minister of Information and Communication Technology Pavel Filip said the documents concerning European integration will be examined and approved by the Government as matters of urgency. The ministries and subordinate institutions are to implement them within the set terms.
