Children at “Andries” camp have been sexually abused

The medical-legal examination confirmed the two children who rested at the “Andries” summer camp in Orhei had been subject to sexual abuse, ombudswoman for children’s rights Tamara Plamadeala told Info-Prim Neo. “It was confirmed it had been sexual abuse. Next week, we will lodge an application with the court,” the ombudswoman said. The seven-year-old child’s mother said she will demand that the educator and administrator of the camp be held accountable. The case happened in June. Two children aged seven and eight told their parents that they had been sexually abused by a campmate aged ten. The camp’s administration denies responsibility for what occurred. Administrator Valeriu Cohaniuc repeatedly said the incident was a game between children and there was no rape. Tamara Plamadeala considers the case wouldn’t have happened if the educators of the camp had constantly supervised the children. She said she will submit a recommendation o the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family and demand that the summer camps be subject to strict control.
