A child aged one year and nine months died on March 4 when he plunged from the ninth story of an apartment building situated in Chisinau, IPN reports.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the call to the 112 Service was made close to midday. Four teams of rescuers were dispatched to the building located on Alba Iulia St in Buiucani district. The child fell onto the top of an annex that is 4 meters in height. The rescuers took the boy down, but he was no longer alive.

Psychologists of the Inspectorate offered assistance to the parents and relatives of the child.

The Chisinau Police Division said the boy was at home with his mother who was in the kitchen when the child went out on the balcony. An investigation is under way.
