A child aged almost two years died crushed by a car after he hid under the transport unit. The tragedy happened in a locality in Ștefan Vodă district on Thursday, IPN reports.

The General Police Inspectorate said that, preliminarily, it was established that the car was parked at the gate of the child’s family. In the meantime, the boy aged 1 year and 7 months hid under the car.

Subsequently, the 42-year-old driver started the car without noticing the child. After travelling a few meters, he realized that something was wrong.  By the time he understood what happened, it was too late. The child no longer showed signs of life.

Law enforcement officers warn that drivers must be maximumly cautious when there are kids around. When performing driving maneuvers, especially in the yard, the children must be held by the hand by an adult. Children cannot be seen in the rear-view mirrors because of their small stature.
