Child survives fall from seventh floor
A boy of one year and a half fell from the seventh floor of an apartment building located in Chisinau's Botanica district. He remained alive, but suffered serious injuries.
Evelina Rusu, coordinating doctor at the Chisinau Ambulance Service, has told Info-Prim Neo the tragedy happened on July 18 at about 13.30. The boy was left in the care of his sister aged seven. It is now yet known who opened the balcony window and how the child fell.
The boy landed on loose soil. The ambulance doctors established he sustained associated traumas, fractures of the skull bones and base, legs and hands and internal organ injuries. The child was admitted to Valentin Ignatenco Hospital, but the doctors avoid making forecasts about his chances of survival.
This is the fourth case of child falling from height in Chisinau during the last two months. Similar cases happened on July 3 and 4, when boys younger than three survived falls from the second floor of apartment buildings. On June 12, a child fell from the eighth floor when left without supervision and died on the spot.
