Child in sled struck by car
A child in a sled was hit by a car when his parents were crossing the street pulling the sled.
Ion Roscovanu, senior inspector of the Traffic Police Division, has told Info-Prim Neo that the five-year-old boy was in a sled that was pulled by his mother on Union Square in Chisinau. A Mercedes-Vito driven by a man aged 38 did not manage to brake and struck the sled. Fortunately, the child wasn't seriously injured. He was taken to the hospital with contusion of the soft tissues of the thorax. The father of the boy also witnessed the accident.
Another road accident happened in Soroca. A 54-year-old man driving a VAZ-2108 lost control of the car, which skidded on the ice and went into a tractor that was cleaning snow from the road. The driver of the car got his left arm broken.
Ion Roscovanu warns the drivers to be careful on the roads, not to speed, to keep the distance between vehicles and avoid using the personal cars if there are no emergencies.
A number of 49 road accidents occurred in Moldova on Thursday, August 21, including 38 in Chisinau. The traffic police identified four drivers under the influence and 13 drivers who were speeding.
