Child dies in fire caused by TV set
A child, aged 10, died on Sunday, November 12, gas intoxicated in a fire caused by a defective “Alfa” television set. The tragedy produced in Buseuca village, Rezina raion.
Also in Rezina, another child, aged 3, suffered from serious burns, in a fire produced in similar circumstances because of a short circuit in a heating device.
According to Dumitru Stanila, senior specialist of the Firemen Direction of the Exceptional situation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, over the last week alone 74 were registered in the R. of Moldova, causing considerable material damages and taking 4 human lives, including a child’s.
According to the cited source, in the cold period of the year there is an increase in the number of fires triggered by defective or improvised heating appliances. Over the last week this causes determined 26 fires. Other 4 cases occurred because of smoking in bed, and other 5 cases were caused by children playing with fire.
In all, since the beginning of November, 119 fires took place in the republic, resulting in 9 casualties, including a child. Since the beginning of the year the number of fires reached 2179, in which 192 persons died, including 13 children.
