Two life-size cutout figures representing a boy with a backpack have been installed on either side of a pedestrian crossing on R1 road, linking Chisinau to the border with Romania. The State Road Administration says the purpose is to reduce the risk of road accidents and increase traffic safety, IPN reports.
The standees can be seen from afar, serving as a warning for drivers to slow down and watch out for pedestrians.
The crossing will also be equipped with street lighting so that pedestrians and drivers can benefit from road safety and security, both at night and in unfavorable weather conditions.
The cutouts were installed by the State Road Administration in partnership with a private company that financed them.
