A girl aged half a year was beaten to death by her father. It happened in Macaresti village of Ungheni district in the evening of May 13. The child’s 25-year-old father admitted that he hit his daughter because this didn’t stop crying.

Lilia Covalev, press officer of the Ungheni Police Inspectorate, has told IPN that the family was on a visit to the mother’s parents. The girl’s grandmother called an ambulance, but doctors’ attempts to resuscitate her failed.

The man confessed that he hit his daughter in the head for several times because she didn’t stop crying. The mother wasn’t there at that moment. It was established that alcohol had been drunk in the house in the evening of the tragedy.  

The man is investigated for domestic violence that ended in death. He faces 12 to 15 years in jail.
