The chief prosecutor of the Hâncești Prosecutor’s Office Maxim Gropa was arrested on suspicion on unjust enrichment and filing of a false tax return. The information was confirmed for IPN by the spokeswoman for the Prospector General’s Office Mariana Cherpec.

Searches were conducted in the morning of February 16 within the case of unjust enrichment and filing of a false tax return. The chief prosecutor of Hâncești district was arrested for 72 hours.

“Prosecutors are now carrying out searches at a number of locations, including buildings, cars and the office.  Updated information will be provided when the investigative measures are completed,” stated Mariana Cherpec.
