Chess training session in Rybnitsa

A sports-educational chess training session will take place in Rybnitsa from March 22 until March 29. Young chess players from both banks of the Nistru River will be trained within the project “Chess Unites” of the Chess Academy of Moldova, IPN reports.

The session will include chess lessons, simultaneous games, tournaments, recreational activities and trips. The children will be trained by international grandmaster Viorel Iordachescu, international master Ruslan Soltanici and certified chess teachers. The final stage of the project – Chess Festival “Chess Unites” - will take place in April, after the training session.

The project started last April and will close this April. The first stage of the project last July-August included the training and certification of 20 school teachers, by ten from each bank of the Nistru. At the second stage, there were made donations of chess sets and teaching aids.

The project is implemented with the assistance of the Support to Confidence Building Measures Program that is financed by the European Union and co-financed and implemented by UNDP. Its goal is to contribute to promoting confidence between both banks of the Nistru and to create opportunities for developing and encouraging pro-active communication between teachers and students from both banks by teaching and playing chess.
