Cherries will be in great demand in coming years, minister
In the coming years, Moldovan cherries will be in great demand in European countries. The opinion was voiced by Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov, who said during the National Forum of Cherry Producers and Exporters that Moldova had many cherry producers with intensive orchards who could compete with producers from Italy or other countries, Info-Prim Neo learned from a press release of the Ministry of Agriculture.
“I wish Moldovan agriculture to progress and more people to work in this strategic domain. I’m sure this sector will rise to a higher level, especially considering that we benefit from the assistance of Italian specialists, who are pretty experienced in this field”, said Vasile Bumacov. The Minister specified that producers have a lot of work to do as regards development, production, marketing and identifying new markets.
According to Bumacov, Moldovan products are of good quality, but there are too few facilities for export. The Minister is confident that over the next years Moldovan producers will fully implement the technologies of proper growth, care and packaging of cherries, so that the production could compete with that of Italy and USA.
The National Forum of Cherry Producers and Exporters took place on September 13 and was organized by the Italian Consulting Company.
