Checks carried out in parks and courtyards following electrocution of two children

Municipal services are carrying out checks in parks and courtyards of apartment buildings in the capital city after two children were electrocuted last week and one of them died. At the same time, inspections were ordered to detect persons who illegally connected their installations to public networks, IPN reports.

“There was a tragic case last week, when a child died and another one was admitted to the hospital. We send our condolences once again to the family. For all of us it was a tragedy. The Chisinau City Hall provided all the support to both of the families,” mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban stated in the weekly meeting of officials of municipal services.

An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances of the case. “Many have asked us what happened and, in these circumstances, we ask very much to wait for the investigation results and the law enforcement officers to do their work and communicate all those details. In the meantime, and immediately, we ordered that all the streets, parks, orchards be checked once again. Unfortunately, as in the case of water supply and sewerage systems, lighting networks, the people tend to connect on their own,” stated Ion Ceban, asking the responsible bodies to conduct checks and impose fines where irregularities are found.

A few days ago, a 6-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl got electrocuted while playing in the park at the intersection of Sarmisegetusa St and Cuza Voda Blvd in Botanica district of the capital city. The children were rushed to the hospital, but the girl could not be saved.
