Cheaper calls within Moldtelecom network in two months
The telephony costs within Moldtelecom fixed line network will decrease in March. The operator promises 2 or even 3 times cheaper national and international calls. The announcement was made on Tuesday after a round table regarding the recalculation of telephony costs, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Moldtelecom manager Vitalie Iurca said this will offer consumers bigger communication options. Moreover, the company intends to intensify its activity on the communication services market.
One of the main adjustments is that of international call costs, which will drop 3 times. Calls to Romania will cost 1.8 lei/minute, 2.5 times cheaper, in the fixed network and 3.6 lei/minute to mobile numbers. Calls to Israel and to Russia will decrease 3 and 1.5 times respectively. Fixed calls to most European countries will cost 1.44 lei/minute.
Local tariffs will be halved. At the same time, peak hours will begin 2 hours earlier, at 8 PM.
Marketing manager Ion Rosca said socially vulnerable categories will continue to benefit of support. War invalids will be offered the Easement contract for only 6 lei per month. Pensioners, war veterans, 1st and 2nd grade disabled people, victims of repressions, Chernobyl victims and socially vulnerable people will benefit of the Social plan for 15 lei. Extra minutes will cost between 8 and 16 bani per minute depending on the time of the call.
Alongside Standard and Econom plans, new Optim 300, Optim 500 and Optim Unlimited have been introduced.
According to Ion Rosca, after the recalculation, fixed telephony costs in Moldova will be cheaper that in some networks in Russia, Ukraine or Romania. “The adjustment of prices is a necessary process, characteristic to markets that change from monopoly to competition. This is stipulated in Moldova’s agreement with the World Trade Organization, he added.
Representatives of the National Agency for Informational Technology and Electronic Communications Regulations, of the National Agency of Private ICT Companies, independent operators and experts participated in Tuesday’s round table.
