Charity Winter Bazaar to be held Dec. 6

The traditional charity Winter Bazaar that is staged by the International Women’s Club of Moldova (IWCM) will be held at the exhibitions center “Moldexpo” on December 6. Within the fair, 39 embassies working in Moldova and international organizations, economic entities and craftsmen will exhibit products, food, drinks, works of art, clothes, books and toys for children, all at accessible prices. The proceeds will go to support two social centers and a public association, IPN reports.

Maria Marinuta, the wife of ex-minister of defense and co-president of the IWCM, told a news conference that the Winter Bazaar will be opened at 10am and will last by 4pm. The fair is an occasion for the visitors to make a trip around the world as each state will exhibit traditional objects, foods and beverages. There will be presented an artistic program with songs, dances and winter carols and held draws. The prizes include plane tickets to Rome and Istanbul and other prizes prepared by the sponsors.

The wife of the British Ambassador to Moldova Jo Batson said all the proceeds will be used to support children, women and socially vulnerable groups in Moldova. This year the collected money will go to build an elevator inside the Center for Children with Disabilities “Fenix” in Rascani. A part of the money will go to the association “Debra Moldova”, which protects the rights of the persons suffering from epidermolysis bullosa (butterfly disease), while another part will be used to equip and connect to the Internet a placement center in Straseni.

This is the 19th Winter Bazaar held so far. Over half a million dollars has been raised during the previous editions.

Founded in 1997, the International Women’s Club of Moldova brings together the wives of ambassadors and stars from the worlds of culture and arts.
