Charity NGOs call on people to donate Christmas gifts for HIV-infected children
Young people and adolescents of a number of charity nongovernmental organizations Saturday distributed informative leaflets to people on the occasion of the World AIDS Day and urged them to contribute to the collection of Christmas presents that will be given to children infected with HIV, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The aim of this event is to remind of the World AIDS Day celebrated on December 1, which is an occasion for us to tell the people that these children deserve to be happy even if they are unhappier than we,” said Ruslan Poverga, the head of “Viata Noua” (“New Life”) NGO.
Alina Malai, of the same NGO, said the event is aimed at encouraging the infected children and at stimulating the healthy people to do good things.
“We want to offer gifts to these children on Christmas so as to bring them joy. We care about their fate. They deserve a better life. We must make their life more beautiful and bright and we urge the people to contribute to their happiness,” said Alina Malai.
Alina also said that the information about HIV/AIDS is useful to everyone. “The people should know how to protect themselves and take care of themselves so as to be able to help other persons and not ignore the infected ones.”
According to official statistics, in Moldova there are about 50 HIV-infected children, but unofficial reports say their number is much higher.
The charity events are organized by the NGO “Mothers for Life” in partnership with “New Life” and “Dance4life”.
